Blackheads, pimples, oily skin, acne sparing very few teenagers. It is estimated that between 11 and 18 years, 80% of youth are affected by this skin disease. Fortunately, this unsightly infection that affects teenagers in varying degrees, disappears at the end of adolescence. But how to characterize a skin acne?
Acne is a non-infectious disease that begins at puberty. She is well aware of by a push button (and other spots) but also by skin becomes oilier.
Acne, what is it?
For teens, the onset of puberty often marks the onset of rash.
Hormones are the cause of these skin imperfections that appear on the face of the T-zone (forehead, nose, chin), but also in the back and decollete. Normally, the sebum in the sebaceous gland function is to prevent drying of the skin. But in adolescence, sebum production is set loose its concentration increases in the hair follicle (the root of the hair) and the skin becomes oilier. Result: the follicle and unencumbered excess oil spills on the surface of the skin, making it very bright and bold.
With this excess sebum to the birth of hair, can clog pores and is the appearance, as feared, a black or microcysts.
What causes acne?
The development of acne is promoted by four factors:
- Excessive production of sebum makes the skin bright and shiny. That is what is called seborrhoea.
- The skin pores clog and trap sebum. In response, comedones (blackheads) form is hyperkeratosis.
- The proliferation of bacteria (propionibacteirum acnes) within the hair follicles will lead to an inflammation on the surface of the skin and red buttons will appear.
Contrary to popular belief, poor nutrition is not the cause of acne. The chocolate and sausages can be eaten normally, as part of a varied and balanced diet.
Different acne
The skin acne face different types of lesions, which present different degrees of severity.
- Blackheads, also known as comedones. These are small "plugs" that were formed in the openings of hair follicles. Their black color is due to oxidation of sebum.
- The mycrokystes are small white buttons that lodge under the skin, usually on the cheeks or chin. They generally move in or blackheads are inflammations of the nest and become red buttons.
- Papules, those red buttons, inflammatory lesions are sometimes painful. They are absorbed, they are transformed into pustules.
- The pustules, papules are identical, except that they contain a liquid yellow pus. These are often called white buttons and correspond to superinfections lesions.
- Nodules are the characteristics of the most severe acne. These inflammatory lesions red, deep and painful.
The positive point is that acne is a disease that resolves spontaneously with age. Past 20 years for males and 22 years for girls, the acne becomes more than a bad memory.
